From Du Faur’s Rocks at Mt Wilson. Frederick Eccleston du Faur early in the settlement of Mt Wilson owned land in Mt Wilson. He loved the natural beauty of the great outdoors, and fought for the preservation of areas of the land, with one of those resulting in the Ku-ringai Chase National Park in 1894 (another place I love to spend time - see the photos of Bobbin Head).
Du Faur was quite the pioneer, also becoming in 1876 director of the new NSW Art Galllery.

Not as thick or orange as a few days ago, but still weird. Another lot of strong wind bringing dust from the west. http://mobypicture.com/?gan3tr
That shot’s a bit crooked, isn’t it. Well it’s not supposed to be a glamour shot, just a capture of an event. :)
This storm’s only a few hundred kilometres wide, but will blow from NSW into Queensland.
I woke up to this, a weird red glow and quite dark for this time of day. The gale force winds are blowing the dust through the cracks in the windows so it smells dusty even indoors.

The annual NSW Variety Club Bash headed off this morning from the Sydney Opera House on an 11-day trek out west, getting to Alice Springs in about a week, meeting up with Bashers from other States there, then coming back via Broken Hill. There would have been close to a 100 old cars / fire engines, crazily fitted out, with each of the cars following a theme, including what their occupants wore. At the bottom right of this photo you can see some from the Elvis car. Fun!
